Has anyone here ever used MiniBB?
It looks like a great bulletin board system - and is minimilist (what I'm going after). .

The first two links are examples of it in action. . .
The last link is the board's home site.

I was considering using this on my site that I am building.

If you guys have time I'd sure love some pro's and con's of this board after you check it out and whether or not you like it. Also if some of the 'smallorange's' admin staff are around and can comment on what this board would function like once it gets busier, I'd love that as well.

Thanks so much!

All I know is when I visisted their forums, I saw this: Page loading time (sec.): 0.574. That seems a bit high for a "minimalistic" forum software :/

Yeah, MiniBB's all well and good for tiny "forums" on an already existing page, such as for a blog or something. If you're planning on using it as real forum software though, I would highly recommend something more "advanced".

Its OK for a standard, simplistic forum. If you expect it to get busy though, I would start off with something that can handle a lot of traffic/posts..

Are there convertors for miniBB?

Loaded very slowly for me I'm adfraid. Several seconds before anything appeared on the page at all. For a minimalist BB, this seems unacceptable IMHO.

Look at ASO forums, they load up almost instantly - why go for a poorer performing minimal BB than a faster performing fully functional BB such as IPB. (which incidentally is available for auto install via your fantastico cPanl link)

I agree with MusicMan when i went to the forums, it took a few seconds for anything to show up.
Page loading time (sec.): 1.335
and when I clicked into the support forums Page loading time (sec.): 1.438

If you look at IPB here on aso 0.0309sec
My forums (IPB) hosted on a free host [ Script Execution time: 0.3535 ]
My forums (IPB) hosted on ASO [ Script Execution time: 0.0152 ]
I wouldn't trust miniBB especially when I can have IPB autoinstalled. tongue.gif im lazy!

If I were you, I would just install IPB 1.3 Final. It dosn't have as many features as IPB 2.0, but it's smaller compared to IPB 2.0 and I think you're looking for a board that dosn't have too many options/features smile.gif
