I just came to the forums for my nightly visit and went "aaaaaaaggghhhhh - what's that?".

I'm guessing IPB released an update, and someone just applied it at ASO? I'm really not convinced at the moment. The front page is really confusing compared to what it was (especially as a Community Mod) and even things like "which are the pinned topics, which are the new topics, and which are the old topics" aren't as clear as they used to be.

Someone please say that this is only an intermediary stage and that there's still work to be done. Please :)

(BTW, don't try the old theme - the forum template changes mean that it is borked and isn't much better :D)

Arrrgh is a good comment. I wasn't going to say much as I seem to be finding things increasingly annoying but I may as well add my 2 cents worth.

1) A bit too bright for comfortable reading, soften the background colour for the text a bit.
2) The thread pagination is borked
3) Are avatars really necessary in anything but threads? All they do is slow page loading.
4) font sizes seem to be off too.

Being critical is unfortunately too easy at times, but I don't think most of this is ASO's fault*. I think IPB went on a "teh socialz is teh coooolllllzzzzz" binge with all the extra buttons, not-quite-buttons-but-made-to-look-like-them, notifications and other bits of clutter. Hopefully ASO can fix it up and make it usable soon :)

I agree on things like the need to remove unnecessary avatars. Also, something needs to be done about the "Unapproved" bars on the forum pages, topics with new posts need to be made more obvious, and I need to work out what the really pale grey icons mean on some posts.  Also, the ModCP bar is a bit tall for no obvious reason :)

* other than for buying IPB in the first place, instead of a proper system from people who don't say "it'll be free forever, just like the PHP, Apache and MySQL systems that it is built on" before pulling the free version and deleting any posts that mentioned it

I also just noticed, the ASO favicon is gone, replaced by the IPB generic one.

I'm still getting the ASO one in Chromium. Not sure if it has just cached that, though (especially since I'm never convinced that Ctrl+F5 works the same in Chromium as it did in Firefox!)

I know that the Opera browser caches those little favicons forever.  Even when you clean your history/cache they still remain.  You have to delete them manually.  Thousands of little favicons can take up a lot of space over time.  Chrome might be doing the same thing.

Seems it was cached for a fair while. I'm now getting the standard IPB favicon as well.
