Hello
I have a forwarder on my site (me@mysite) redirecting email to a Gmail address (me@gmail). However with the launch of Outlook.com, I am looking to change the forwarder to another address (me@outlook). However for the purposes of this post, I will refer to it as Hotmail.
I set the me@mysite address up in Hotmail as an address which I can send mail from. However when using an email client (such as Outlook), when mail arrives from that address it states the sender as:
"me@hotmail on behalf of me@mysite".
This obviously isn't what I wanted as I simply want to use my own domain but also use hotmail as the client / management. It's been suggested Live Domains would work, but I am not convinced as it seems to take over the management of the me@mysite address, which would be more complicated if I chose to change the actual address mail goes to in the future.
I am currently using Gmail for this task and as it allows you to set outgoing SMTP servers, then I send all outgoing mail through my ASO server, therefore in an email client (such as outlook) it displays as me@mysite only.
I have signed up the me@mysite address through passport.microsoft.com ages ago and can sign in with it. However emailing through it displays "<random letters and numbers>hotmail on behalf of me@mysite" which is a shame. I thought it would just send it.
So I guess what I am asking is can I set up Live Domains for ASO and what do I do / How do I do it? When I looked, it was saying about MX servers, DNS things... I don't know anything about that.
Thanks

Hi Mr Spoon,
You can set up your domain to use Live Domains for mails for your domain that you have with ASO. It would require change of MX records and CNAME records for your domain.
Please check this Knowledge Base article which will provide you with instructions on how to do that:

Of course, if you run into any problems with thi, please feel free to contact our Support, and we'll be happy to assist you.
