As the pinnacle providers of, what I consider to be, hosting without judgement, I am curious as to Jen and Crew's thoughts on H.R.3261.

Having hosted with Jen and crew since 2001 as Drak, I have always known her crew to be the very stewards of keeping your right to free speech safe and censorship free. That said, with the new iteration of my hosts, where do you stand on the subject?

The hosting industry as a whole, not just our company, has come out against it and has been actively meeting and discussing it for quite a bit. There was a meeting at HostingCon in August, and again at the cPanel Conference a couple of months ago, and members of the Coalition met with some Representatives last week. I personally am on the email list and have attended some of the meetings, and I know a few others in our company have/are as well.

I have yet to meet anyone in our industry that thinks PIPA and SOPA are anything but  Extremely Bad Ideas. They may be out there, but I don't know any of them, or know anyone that knows any of them. :)

We're not in favor of it, are watching the legislative activity around it very closely, and doing what we can to work against it/support those attempting to point out the inherent security and free speech and operational problems with it.

The only people who think it's a good idea are the big media companies and their lackeys.
Obsolescence is just a lack of imagination.

At the end of the day, I guess there's only so much ASO can do if the big media companies can bribe...sorry, that should be "petition and lobby" *cough*...enough politicians and it gets through, but it is good to know that you're trying to promote and support the anti-campaign :)

As if DMCA wasn't bad enough...now we get ACTA being approved by a Fisheries group in the EU and SOPA/PIPA in the US (which will no doubt subsequently be forced into the laws of other nations in various shapes and forms by the big American companies, the same as previously).

Sometimes I think it'd be better if we still ruled the US! *starts waving Union Jack* :D
