I'm in the process of exploring new hosting options. After reviewing the docs on the main site I have a few questions.
1. My domain name (which is a .ca) was registered by my current host on my behalf. As such, I don't have access to a configuration panel other than cPanel. Is this a problem to move over to ASO?
2. Does ASO support HTTP Loopback Connections? See here for details ...
http://ithemes.com/c...ctions_Disabled
3. Does ASO support command line Zip? See here for details ...
http://ithemes.com/c...patibility_Mode
Thanks in advance for any info you can give.

1) You'll need to talk to your current host. Your best bet is probably to move the domain to a real registrar (not sure who is best for .ca) and then you'll be able to make the necessary changes.
2) I don't know, but it does say there's another way: "enable the alternate cron method in your wp-config.php (as Solution below - often the only solution for those in a shared environment)"
3) It seems odd that they're using zips if they're targetting Wordpress (which is normally deployed on Linux). IIRC then ASO already have it, though. If not then it should only be a five minute job to edit the source (unless, being commercial, they've managed to lock you out of the source or generally obfuscated it).
Is there a reason you're using a pay-for option? ASO have already announced an improved backup system, cPanel had (the last time I looked) its own backups for files, and scripting a database backup that emails to an account of your choice is incredibly simple.

Thanks for the input.
1) Currently have support tickets in with both the registrar and my current web host. Neither seem to be overly anxious to assist. I guess I have no choice but to sit tight.
2) The alternate cron method works fine enough. Thought I would ask though.
3) With respect to my choice of a pay-for-option (BackupBuddy) I find it to be a far superior (and easier) way to manage backups. Since I'm not an ASO customer (at least not yet) I was unaware of ASO's "improved backup system". You've given me some additional reading material.

#1 is the reason why most people with some web experience recommend buying all domains with a registrar. If you do ever want to move then you just change settings at the registrar - no need to mess around with a hosting company that you're trying to move away from
