Hey, all!

We have some really exciting news for you. We've rolled out and will be tweaking a brand new backup infrastructure!

We've implemented R1Soft's "Continuous Data Protection".

"But Brent/ASO! Why the new backup system?"

I'll tell you why- because it's sweeter than molasses-covered milk chocolate. Currently, our backup system:

-has no standard configuration for non-cloud VPS
-only offers the choice between a daily or weekly backup for shared
-is a little bit slow and cludgy...

BUT with this new solution, we can back up VPS containers, it's a LOT faster, AND-

and here's the things you're gonna love-

it gives you FOURTEEN points of restoration! Backups are made twice a day, and a full week of rotation is kept. Instead of having to choose between the backup done that previous night/early morning or a backup a week ago, you now can chose a backup at MOST 12 hours old (or, if you know a problem happened, say, three days ago you could restore everything prior to that particular day).

In addition, it has cPanel integration so you can perform file/directory restores yourself without having to open a ticket! (Though if you get stuck, definitely don't hesitate to get in contact with us!)

Keep an eye out for more information on this feature in the future!

Really pleased about this feature being added. I had a quick look in my VPS's cPanel but can't see it, do we need to do something so that it's enabled?

We actually had it a couple years back but discontinued using it due to lack of support from R1Soft, and the general buggyness of the software in general. The newest version seems to have fixed a lot of the issues that plagued it being deployed in large scale environments previously.

So what lies ahead for the Cloud hosted accounts?? Will the new backup system count against our storage quota??

It appears to be available in shared hosting. Haven't tried it yet, looks pretty nice though!

Hello,
is it correct that this type of backup (suppose is the same for all kind of servers) does not cover mysql?
