Hi Guys,

I added a post to my site earlier this week (monday or tuesday). I am updating that same post with another update and am getting DB errors via Drupal.

I haven't changed anything other than the text on this particular page. I came here to check to see if there had been any server updates or work done since then that may have done something before I start to dig further.

Thoughts?

Figured it out...  special characters aren't allowed in my database (utf8_general_ci")

Someone snuck one in in the text I was to update.. finally found it after pasting bit by bit in..

UTF8 is a Unicode encoding. It should support the full range of characters, as long as they're correctly encoded.

That said, from a quick Google then it appears the code it was erroring on was a "Microsoft smart quote" (i.e. "we think we know better than you" character), so the "correctly encoded" may go out of the window.

At least you got it fixed, but it might be something to ask the Drupal devs to look into, especially as Microsoft apps are prone to replacing " with these 'smart' quotes.
