I have four sets of image, title, excerpt. These are pretty small. The image and title link to another page (four pages). The excerpt will only be fifty characters long, maximum. I would like to put these next to each other (four across) with the image being centered above the title, and the title above the excerpt for each one. I've seen the title and excerpt next to the image but never beneath it so I don't have an example. This will sort of work like an index or blog but really it is not. It is just an intro page to a group of four pages. The temporary setup is at My link. You will see the images and titles (which still have to be formatted) and temporary excerpts (no plugin is in use, I just retyped it). Right now I'm just trying to get the layout set. I could use some ideas on how to do this. Thanks.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking - what you're describing is what I'm seeing when I look at that page right now?

That is one of my experiments. I try to learn from example. It is a plugin and is not passing W3C so I will not be using it in the end.

I'm also not convinced my original idea is the best. I'm not liking how crowded it feels. I'll try the standard image on the left and title top right with content below to see if it looks better. I might just have to start over.

Basically you are looking to do a design that has become easy to implement using the "Grid System". A search for "960 gris system" will yield probably more site than you'llw ant to read :)

The Fedora project ( http://fedoraproject.org/ ) has a nav section in the middle of their home page much like what you are trying to do.

Interesting stuff NyteOwl. It brings up two concerns. One being that my site is apparently not within their standards for size. I am at 900px instead of 950/940/910/880/870/860/830/820. Question is, what implication does this have? Second, it would require starting over—again—and giving up the theme I am using. Not a bad idea if I were a developer but I'm not. I will keep it in mind for the next overhaul.

Alas, I am back to the drawing board. The plugins I tried each had issues with non-valid xhtml and html. I need a spark here. I want to get the links to the daughter pages on here in a nice way. Any thoughts?

Next up is going to be the fonts (font and font-color). Anyone willing to play?
