Has anyone experienced problems with PHP scripts since the migration - particulalry any scripts that make data requests off site?

What migration, can you elaborate?
Did they move their data center?

Yes, datacentre was changed from GNAX in Atlanta to SoftLayer in Texas. Of course accounts were moved to different servers.

I did get cron job errors but I didn't know it was due to migration.  I haven't noticed anything with any of my sites other than this cron problem.

cron errors are likely unrelated to my problem.

My script accesses a public file on another site, reads some content and displays it on my site. It worked fine until the datacentre move and now cannot reach the other site. Nor can it be reched running the script from the command line nor via lynx in the shell. It is accessible from my location and a few other places I used for testing around the continent so it seems an issue with the path between ASO and the other site. The result is a 22 second delay while the request to the other site times out before my own page starts to load (which then takes 3-5 seconds).

What that exact issue is, is an ongoing investigation :)

Did you open a ticket for this? It sounds like maybe a firewall issue to me, if the content is failing to load. Are you using standard HTTP(s) ports?

Well ASO have determined it's nothing at their end. The other site can find no reason for the ebhaviour at their end, infact they don't even show my server IP trying to connect to them (which goes along with the fsockopen() error message of "unable to connect").

I guess I'll have to forget about using this script. Whatever the reason, it isn't working from the Softlayer datacentre.
