I HAVE TO SAY ASO THAT YOU ARE TOTALLY ON MY S*&T LIST TODAY. ON TUESDAY, YOU MOVED OUR SERVER AND DID NOT BOTHER TO TELL US. MEANWHILE, THE OLD SERVER STILL EXISTS AND IS STILL RESPONDING TO OUR EMAIL CLIENTS, BUT NO EMAIL IS GOING TO THE OLD SERVER, IT IS GOING TO THE NEW SERVER. SO WE HAVE SILENTLY NOT RECEIVED ANY OF OUR EMAIL SINCE TUESDAY. THIS IS A PISS POOR LEVEL OF SERVICE THAT I HAVE NOT BEEN ACCUSTOMED TO FROM ASO, AND IT IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. ARE YOU NOW JUST ANOTHER MEDIOCRE (I.E., UNACCEPTABLE) HOSTING SERVICE? SHOULD I TAKE MY BUSINESS SOMEWHERE ELSE?

I AGREE - THIS IS TOTAL HORSE S**T. WHAT IDIOT PLANNED THIS AND WHY HAVE THEY NOT BEEN FIRED?
I didn't even realize anything was wrong until I just got a voicemail from a company I deal with asking me to call them with my updated email address 'cause their messages to me were bouncing. So I came here and discovered a post to the forum about planned server moves. I thought the forum was not supposed to be an official support channel? So then why is ASO depending on us reading the forum in order to get important announcements? They should either be sending the announcements through an official support channel (i.e. email), or they should stop saying that the forum isn't an official support channel.
Anyway, the announcement mentioned that Felix was being moved to 184.173.73.168, and it says that the move is complete. However, when I lookup felix.asmallorange.com that is not the IP it resolves to, leading me to believe the move is not finished properly. I would really like it if all my CNAME records that point to felix.asmallorange.com would work, so ASO needs to fix their DNS so that Felix's name actually resolves to its new IP. Or did the name change but ASO was too stupid to bother telling us that?

The server was not physically moved, the accounts on the server were moved to another server. Felix (along with all the other servers that are being moved) will be decommissioned in lieu of new more powerful hardware.

So you're saying the sites were moved from Felix to a different box? The announcement says Felix was being moved to 184.173.73.168. Why did the announcement say that if that's not what was happening? Don't you think if the sites were being moved to a new hostname, that the friggen name of it would've been a useful piece of information to know?
Yes, they were moved to new hardware. The term migration generally insinuates this, but I can understand how it was not completely clear.
The hostname should have been included in the forum thread, I apologize that it was not. I'll go ahead and update that post with the applicable information as soon as possible.

Yea my email stopped working... I was freaking out for a bit. No emails from work or anything for two days? REALLY? lol
I noticed squirrelmail or webmail was still receiving properly but my client-side Thunderbird wasn't...
In Thunderbird I had to change my email client settings to match the new servername. I hope I was right in deducing that "roslin" went to "jincheng" ?
Thanks guys. A heads-up would have been nice though

Yeah, I had this problem too, plus SpamAssassin got disabled. The spam flood was unpleasantly confusing. Really would have appreciated knowing about this.

Yes, I just noticed this when I was logging on to SSH. I think you should send out email about this, and also when you upgrade to a major version of e.g. PHP.

I too got hit by this server migration; I was on Cindy. It was very unexpected and very unlike the service I've had from ASO in the past. It took down a project I was working on, made me miss emails, and was really a surprising way to handle a migration.
I hope this was just an aberration and that we'll go back to the usual ASO high level of service.
