I am hoping someone can push me in the right direction. What I am trying to figure out is the follow:

1. It is my understanding that the Zend framework is installed at ASO. Is this assumption correct?
2. Is anyone here using Zend on their site?
3. Can someone briefly detail the steps I would need to take to begin using it on my ASO site?
4. At the very least, can someone gently push me in the right direction to figuring out what I need to do?

I thank all of you in advance.

Mark :)

As far as I know, if you want to use Zend Framework you're going to have to install your own copy. I played with it a bit and then decided that I didn't really want to invest the time it would take to really learn how to use it. There is a bunch of Zend stuff that runs with Apache that you can see if you invoke phpinfo().

Thanks for the response. I don't believe I have sufficient access to be able to install Zend Framework as I don't have any kind of shell access to ASO (that I know of). Did you have that level of access when you were playing around with it? If not, were you able to install?  If you kind of remember the steps you took, would you be willing to hold my hand a little? If you do, I will be sure to post our steps here, that way we might help out the next guy who comes after me.

Thanks again.

The proper Apache modules are already installed. You just need to upload the framework files. You can do this through FTP. If you want shell access, you can email support to have it enabled for your account.

Thanks Frank.  I will email to get shell access, as I find myself needing it from time to time.

On the framework uploading, I created the Zend project and tested it in XAMPP and it worked fine.  I looked through the files and didn't see any obvious configuration issues. I uploaded the whole kit and caboodle to my site and it immediately started complaining that it couldn't find files it was looking for. So, I backed off, removed the project from the server and posted here to make sure (after searching the forums, of course). Now that I know that Zend is there, I will upload the structure again and try to track down what files it is looking for and why it can't find them.  Something tells me you haven't heard the last of me yet :)

And in any event, I plan to post a summary of what I did to get it basically up and running, as I said before, to the betterment of Orangekind :)

Thanks again.

Mark

Okay, I finally got a chance to throw all the files back up. It is bombing because it cannot find Zend/Application.php

That is what led me (and leads me still) to believe that Zend is NOT available on ASO. So, then I will need to host a copy on my own, n'est pas?  Or is there some other configuration issue that I am missing?

Your problem may be that Windows isn't case sensitive and Linux is. Start with the tar.gz file on the server and untar it there.

Thanks for the response.  I think that this theory is unlikely, but I will verify when I get back to work tomorrow. I will post here when I can definitively confirm or deny this train of thought...

Okay, the short answer is that the Zend framework is NOT globally installed. The way to go about this is to install it locally.  As such, that is what I will be doing.  I will post to my blog the steps I have to go through and then include a link here for posterity. Stay tuned :)

Just goes to show you that there is a huge gap between what we tell people and what they hear.  I am not a techno-newbie, by a long shot, yet I obviously still have a hard time letting go of my assumptions :)
