Just a heads up: The affiliate links seem to redirect to the ASO home page, rather than a sign up page.

Yes, thats intentional. We offer a variety of services and would like the customers to see our full offerings before ordering.

How about an option to drop the referral to a specific page? If I'm sending referrals to you, I'm doing it because I have experience with hosting, and hosting is what I'm recommending -- in which case I'd like to be able to link direct to the hosting page.

Sign up with ASO: sg5 for $5-off, best on orders under $33; sg15 for a 15% discount, best on orders over $33.

We don't have a way to do this currently, there is no way to configure the exit page on our billing software. I will certainly look into it though.

EDIT: That page isn't encrypted so I can probably work this out for you. Standby.

This should be working now. You can modify it on your affiliates page. The default is http://www.asmallorange.com/ :)

EDIT: actually, im going to recode it so that the landing page is per coupon rather than per client. give me a few minutes.

I shouldn't work when I'm tired. :) That isn't going to work because its the affiliate URL we want to redirect, not the coupons.

I'll mess with this sometime this week.

Ok let me see if I have this straight:

1) old referrer links point to the new affiliate system
2) New affiliate links/system results in commission to the affiliate but no discount to the prospect
3) Old coupon codes do work but only grant a discount to the prospect and no commission to the affiliate.

Given that most people (that I know anyway) avoid affiliate links like the plague, but use coupon codes when they find them, I don't see this as generating much traffic as there is much decreased incentive for an affiliate to post links without the coupon discount incentives (which new customers won't have available to them).

New broom adage I guess. I always preferred the old "if it ain't broke don't fix it" one myself.
Obsolescence is just a lack of imagination.

Sign up at ASO and enjoy friendly, quality hosting services. Use coupon code no2512 and save 15% or coupon code 2152on and take $5 off. Valid on both Shared Hosting and VPS plans.

I wondered how you were going to redirect based on coupon. For me personally a single exit url for my affiliate link is enough.

Well, in this case, it was broken. The backend of our billing system was just plain terrible, and a lot of things did not work properly requiring a lot of extra work to make it get by..

Also, the coupon codes do grant affiliate referrals AND discounts now. See the ASO refer thread, I hacked together a module a few days ago. If you login to your account, and go to affiliates, you can see your coupon codes at the bottom along with a way to add/delete them. So, it should be:

1) Old referral URL's point to new system
2) Old referral coupon codes work with new system, and grant both the end user discount, and affiliate referrals.

In the end, it should be pretty much identical to how it operated before.

Yeah, I know "how" to do it. But I'm trying to figure out where in the database I'm going to store the landing page URL. I'd rather not modify any existing database tables if I dont have to, and adding yet another table seems rather pointless. So we'll see what I can come up with.

Hurrah! And I've got an affiliate sign-up with the new system, so it does work :) The only thing I'm not sure of is where my old affiliate money went...I had a fair few hundred racked up, but I can't find a "balance" in the new system at the moment.

...

Okay, nvm, just found it on the "home" section, but not in the affiliates (because it came from the old system, I guess) :)

Surely that doesn't leave you with any options ;) you can normally extend what exists or create something new. If you're not extending and you're not creating then you're doing magic :D
The more information you provide, the better answer the community can give.

*** Sign up at ASO  with a 15% discount (coupon: saveme15%) or $5 discount (coupon: saveme$5) ***

Since I'm sure you're just lazing around in the nice summer heat you have, wondering what you could do today, I thought I'd give this a bump :)

Spent the weekend poolside sipping cocktails and enjoying the 100+ degree heat index. ;)

I should be able to make some time this week to work on this.

Custom landing pages are now available in your affiliate area. They default to the ASO homepage if left unset.

Why can I see my password in cleartext?!  Was it like this in the previous incarceration?

The old billing system did not allow you to see your password.

I maybe misunderstood, but I think Yelper's question was more a "Why can I see this? I don't want to!". That was my reaction, to be honest - it means somebody who gains access to the billing system can get access to my entire account, even though they use different passwords, whereas before they'd only have had access to one or the other. Any chance of either turning this off globally or allowing us the option to disable it?

Save money when you sign up! Go here then use code giveme15 to get 15% off or giveme5 to get $5 off your order.

Given the fact you can reset the cPanel password, I do not see the point in disabling the display of it. You should keep your billing password just as secure, if not more secure, than your cPanel password.

Sorry about the quick post yesterday, but David deciphered my message!  :)

It's more about over-the-shoulder security - if I log into my billing area and check my info and status of my order or my current hosting plan, I don't expect to see my password right there in front of me.  It's frankly a little bit of a shock.  I've seen places like mediatemple that hide the password and just use a simple jquery-show hyperlink if the user actually wants to see the password.

If it was up to me, that password wouldn't be shown at all - it kinda scares me that you guys have the password stored in clear-text anyway....

Its certainly not stored in clear text. Its encrypted using a proprietary encryption algorithm with a 64bit key.

For what its worth, you can login to cPanel and change the password in there. The password on the billing interface doesn't get updated to reflect that change.
