I was curious if the business hosting is any more reliable. Can anyone tell me the names of some business hosting boxes so I can watch them on the status page to find out?

Have you submitted a support ticket during an outage?  There may be a problem with the server or a site on the server that tech support is not aware of.

Business hosting should be more reliable since fewer accounts are placed on each server.

I haven't submitted support tickets when it's down because it's not my job to monitor uptime. I pay ASO to do that.

ASO has scripts that can tell that a server's down, and when that happens, they should automatically fire off emails to those tasked with server maintenance.

I appreciate your interest and I don't mean to be snippy. However, I ask again, does anyone have a list of some of the business shared servers, so I can see if they're more reliable?

Despite whatever tools ASO has to monitor uptime, they may be too busy with other customers to notice. Submitting a support ticket alerts them to the outage and attaches a date and time stamp to the outage for reference while they look for a cause.

Though it is not your "job" as you state, it is something that should be done for your own good. Whenever my server goes down, it's usually back within minutes of submitting a support ticket. I have never bothered to see what would happen without submitting a ticket, because if the server is down, then so are my sites, and I want to anything in my power to ensure that they come back online.

I'm sorry, but I don't have a list of the business shared servers.

I could easily script something to fire off a ticket automatically whenever my host is down for more than 5 minutes, but for how often that is (15 times in the past month), and for how cheap shared hosting is, I don't want to be an annoying customer. :) After all, I can't expect perfect 24/7 hosting for $10/mo.

If upgrading to business shared hosting is more reliable and possibly has better monitoring from ASO, I'd lean towards doing that. If it's not more reliable, then it's not worth paying twice as much, especially when I don't require the security compliance stuff that others would.
