Please walk me through what I need to do to get this process up and running, or point me to a how-to guide. I did not think I was this obtuse but apparently not being a Linux user is working against me.

What I wish to accomplish is the following (for now)
1. Move my domain name (www.mydomain.com) from 1and1.com to ASO.
2. Set up a Wordpress blog so that any one who ends up at www.mydomain.com sees my landing page for the Wordpress blog.
3. Move my blog contents from 1and1.com to ASO.

I have figured out most of the cpanel functions so most of that makes sense, except for the file name structures. So what I have done is:

1. Gone to 1and1.com and changed the DNS of www.mydomain.com to the ASO DNS (ns1 & ns2). After 48 hours, on some computers I still get the old landing page for www. mydomain.com; on others I get the "Index of /" page, where it lists ".cgi-bin/" and ".username/" as directories.
2. Set up an FTP account. When I use my FTP client and ftp onto mydomain.com, I see myself as root (/).
3. Created a database in MySQL, named username_blog and a user username_me.
4. Uploaded the latest Wordpress install to root using FTP
5. Connected to www.mydomain.com, clicked on the .username/ dir, and got the Wordpress "you need a config.php' etc etc. I filled in the parameters of the SQL database, it liked it, then got a PHP error which says:

No such file or directory in /home/loginname/public_html/username/wp-settings.php on line 388

As I said, all I want is to get the blog up for now, but I cannot get past this despite multiple tries of deleting all and starting over.

Finally, I have a directory of files with all my JPGs from the blog - I need to move these over but where do I put them? And what would be the absolute file reference URL (//localhost/etc etc?)

Any help you can give will be invaluable.

Ultimately, I would like to move www.mydomain2.com and www.mydomain3.com to this account as well with the same situation (landing page = blog.)

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hey - did you get this to work? The forums are very dead - you're probably better off writing to help@ASO directly... They're extremely helpful!

Yes, after trial and error.

First, Firefox requires that you erase all history from the cache or it keeps serving up the old pages. So Tools/Clear Recent History - now works like a charm.

Second, adding on the domains was simple - just use the addon feature in cPanel - they get their own subdir.

The addon domains get added into a subdir of /public_html, but the the index page gets loaded when you type in the domain so no problems.

Now just trying to get 1and1 to release the domains so that I can cancel the package there - what a nightmare that is becoming.
