Is it just me or is AWstats not showing Bing as a "search engine," but rather (and not in all cases)
as just a referring site?

As Rogue said, AWStats will need updating by the developers (and then you'll have to wait for the cPanel devs to include the newer version). The problem is that there isn't a fixed way of identifying search engines, and Bing is a fairly new branding of Microsoft's old service (in a way to try to make it "cool"). Similarly, it wouldn't surprise me if there was a while when Google Chrome wasn't correctly identified and was still bundled under "other" browsers.

I suggest using Google Analytics. Awstats has stopped working for me in the past and seems to be generally outdated and unreliable. (Especially if you change servers here at ASO. Prepare for awstats to just not work.)

I moved servers a couple of times and had AWStats still working. I've got it on my VPS now and it seems fine there as well. Also, it a) is quicker for the user because it is one (or more) less extra look-ups and communications with servers and b) doesn't involve letting Google data mine your data ;)
